Born in 1971 in Niksar, Tokat, Şükrü Ay was a hardworking and determined child who showed a deep interest in craftsmanship and production from an early age.
1983 – Journey to Istanbul
At just 12 years old, he moved to Istanbul on his own.
This relocation was more than just a change of city; it marked the beginning of a journey that would one day lay the foundation for one of Turkey’s leading maritime companies.
1984 – The First Step into the Maritime Industry
In 1984, he took his first step into the maritime sector as an assistant craftsman at Torgem Shipyard.
Through his disciplined work ethic and eagerness to learn, he quickly stood out and laid the groundwork for a career path that would eventually lead him to establish his own brand.

During this period, he developed his technical knowledge and leadership skills, becoming a solution-oriented team leader who put his heart into his work.
1989 – 2004 – Experience and Trust in the Industry
For nearly 20 years, he served as a foreman in various shipyards across Turkey.
He gained hands-on experience in every stage of shipbuilding and became deeply familiar with every detail of the production process.
After years of accumulated knowledge and expertise, the time had come to establish his own business.
2004 – The Beginning of Entrepreneurship – The Foundation of Ay Denizcilik
In 2004, he founded his sole proprietorship under the name Ay Denizcilik, bringing with him 20 years of experience.
By providing steel assembly and outfitting subcontracting services to major shipyards such as Torgem, he began to make a name for himself in the industry.
Starting as a small but determined team, the company soon gained trust and recognition in the maritime sector.
2008 – The Establishment of Aycan Denizcilik
In 2008, he founded Aycan Denizcilik Limited Company by acquiring a 100 m² workshop in Taşköprü Industrial Zone, Yalova.
This step marked the transformation from an individual enterprise into a corporate brand.
Focusing on ship subcontracting and outfitting works, Aycan Denizcilik began to offer more comprehensive services to the maritime industry.
2010 – Strategic Growth
In response to the growing demand, Aycan Denizcilik expanded its operations by acquiring an additional 100 m² workshop, increasing the total production area to 200 m².
During this period, the company strengthened its position as a trusted and strategic partner for regional shipyards through its expertise in ship subcontracting and outfitting services.
2012 – Technological Investments and Growth
During the rapid development of the Yalova Shipyard Region, Aycan Denizcilik responded to the increasing demand by acquiring two additional workshops, reaching a total production area of 400 m².
At the same time, the company modernized its production infrastructure through significant investments in plasma cutting, press brake bending, plate rolling, and guillotine cutting machines.
By this stage, Aycan Denizcilik had evolved from a subcontractor into a fully equipped manufacturing center.
2012 – 2020 – Building a Legacy of Quality and Trust
During this period, Aycan Denizcilik successfully completed hundreds of projects while providing services to all major shipyards in Yalova and Istanbul.
With its commitment to on-time delivery, superior quality, and reliability, the company became one of the most trusted and indispensable brands in the maritime industry.
2020 – A Vision for the Future: Investment and Transformation
In 2020, Aycan Denizcilik made a major investment by acquiring a 4,500 m² facility site in the Yalova Shipyard Region, of which 3,200 m² was designated for a modern enclosed production facility.
The objective was to go beyond subcontracting and establish the capacity to manage all stages of ship, yacht, and tugboat production — from engineering to assembly — under one roof.
2021 – Innovative Marine Outfitting Facility
In 2021, the investments were completed, and Aycan Denizcilik launched its modern, high-capacity marine outfitting facility.
The facility was designed as an innovative and integrated structure, where all processes — including engineering, pre-production, module, and block manufacturing — are managed under one roof.
2025 – Towards a Global Future
Today, Aycan Denizcilik carries out pre-production, module fabrication, and block manufacturing for numerous shipyards.
Built on years of dedication, experience, and trust, this journey now sets its sights on the future —
to bring Turkey’s maritime expertise to the global stage and become a reliable and powerful shipyard brand on an international scale.
